Samsung Galaxy S5 will be announced next month, says Samsung executive

Everyone is expecting big news from Samsung at CES next week, but the company has already announced a new Galaxy Camera 2 ahead of the event starting. Now there’s word from a Samsung executive that the Galaxy S5 will be announced at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in February.

Samsung EVP and Head of Design Team Dong-hoon Chang has said that the Galaxy S5 will debut at MWC, according to Korean outlet inews24. Details about the phone were not shared, but the suggestion that the phone would arrive at MWC breaks Samsung’s tradition of launching its phones at independent events. It seems strange, but unless Dong-hoon was speaking out of turn, Samsung has some big plans that will be shared in February. Wait...what?

Another interesting piece of Galaxy S 5 news today is that a design patent Samsung has filed for a Note device may provide a glimpse into what the next round of Samsung flagships may look like. Anyone excited about the S5 yet?
